THE RAINBOW PATH: This was my second weaving project with Maria. I was able to select the color combination from her supply of hand spun, naturally dyed, wool-cotton blend yarn. I was also able to chose which designs I wanted to learn. From Maria's knowledge, the central design represents the Inca path and the design along the sides was used to represent women. The process of setting up a loom this large took multiple hours.
OSO DE ANTEOJOS: The spectacled bear was my final and most complex project with Maria. The central design is representational of the bears that live in the mountains of Peru (now very rare). The wave-like design along the sides uses 4 colors and was the most complex to master. The significance of this design was unknown to Maria. The colors and designs were selected by me.
BACKSTRAP LOOM BELT: My first project with Maria was to make my own belt that I could use as my "backstrap" when making my other projects. The colors and design were chosen by Maria.
